Coast FA is pleased to announce our acceptance into USYS E64 Piedmont League
Q & A
Q. What does being accepted in the USYS E64RL Piedmont mean for Coast FA players ?
A. This league will be a club based travel model where our U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 & U19 boys teams will be at the same venue for all of the twelve matches. The matches against the upstate clubs (CESA & Furman ) will be in Columbia however the remaining matches versus James Island, Charleston Soccer Club, Aiken Bulls and SCUFC will be home and away to give us twelve total league matches. We will not have to make trips to Georgia and North Carolina like we had to when playing in the team based Piedmont League. We will have the luxury of playing regional level competition without ever having to travel outside of South Carolina. There will be two matches per weekend with one on Saturday and one on Sunday to create the most competitive matches possible. Each club hosting matches will be required to have an athletic trainer on site, provide tents and benches, water for players, etc to create a great game day atmosphere.
Q. What does being in USYS E64RL Piedmont mean as far as State Cup seedings ?
A. The USYS E64RL will be recognized as the highest level available and therefor given the top four seeds at State Cup EVERY YEAR based on the league standings. The top four E64Rl teams will also receive first round byes at State Cup. State Cup will be expanded from eight teams to twelve teams. The remaining three E64RL teams will be guaranteed State Cup seeds between 5th and 12th EVERY YEAR as well. As a player at Coast FA you will be assured to play in State Cup EVERY YEAR.
Q.Why was Coast FA selected for the USYS E64RL Piedmont?
A. We were selected as one of the top seven clubs in South Carolina. Every club is rated as a 1*, 2* or 3* by South Carolina Youth Soccer (SCYSA) based on a multitude of factors such as does your club have a coach with a (DOC ) Director of Coaching license ? Do you own or have a long term lease in place ? Do you have a Referee Assignor and an adequate number of certified referees in your area ? Is your club financially stable and in good standing with SCYSA ? Do your staff coaches have the correct license to coach regional level competition ? We are proud to say that Coast received a three star rating which is the highest rating a club can attain.
Q.What gender and age groups will participate in the USYS E64RL Piedmont this year?
A. Boys U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U19. There will be no U18 boys or girls division in SCYSA leagues moving forward. The rational behind this decision is sound because it solves the problem of seniors in high school being left with one half of a team in their last season of youth soccer due to graduation. The 2007 birthyears and 2006 birthyears in both boys and girls will be combined from this point to play U19 each year.
Q. Why was a girls USYS E64RL not offered this year?
A. There were not enough clubs that offer a girls team in every age group U13 - U19 at present however there are several clubs in addition to CESA & SCUFC that are very close. We currently have a U13, U14, U15, U17 & U19 girls so we are only missing a U16. We are optimistic that their will be a girls league in the near future with the rate of growth in our game.
Q.What are the advantages of participating in the USYS E64RL Piedmont?
A. Guaranteed acceptance to State Cup every year including the top four seeds for the four teams that finish at the top of the E65 RL standings Travel as a club so every weekend will feel like a tournament against quality competition Home matches against regional level competition No more isolated trips to Georgia or North Carolina Ability to schedule tournaments due to the fact that we will self schedule all E64RL matches
Q.Will there be a price increase this year for teams participating in USYS E64RL Piedmont?
A. No price increase
Q.How many matches will there be in USYS E64RL Piedmont ?
A. There will be twelve matches for all U15-U19 played between August 15th and Jan 30th. There will be twelve matches for all U13 & u14 teams played between August 15th and April 30th. As you can see there will be plenty of time for additional tournaments on top of E64RL league matches.
Q. Will the team based Piedmont League still exist as we know it ?
A. Yes, it will be for clubs that did not get accepted by the E64RL if your team qualifies through the SCYSA State League. The highest seed at State Cup possible for a team based Piedmont team will now be a 5th seed because the top four seeds will be awarded to E64RL participants.
