Coast FA returned home on Hwy 17 North with three championships and two finalist trophies from the Charleston Shootout. “ It is always a pleasure to make the short drive down to Charleston and participate in an event hosted by Surf Soccer Club. We can always count on a well ran tournament with quality competition and good facilities. Big thanks go to their staff for creating a great environment for all of the teams “ said Coast Director Heyward Gulledge.
Coast 16 Red South (Click for Image) coached by Josh Bean…Champions U10 1st Division…Claimed top honors in a very competitive division. Avenged their only loss of the tournament versus FC Charleston in pool play by defeating them 1-0 in the final. Coach Bean said “ the team is really coming together. They showed incredible passion and unselfish teamwork, what a team to coach !”
Coast 17 Black (Click for Image) coached by Ashton Newman…Champions U9 2nd Division…Had a very similar tournament experience as the 16 Red South team. They also avenged their only loss of the tournament in pool play by defeating Surf Blue 1-0 in the championship match. “ My team played incredibly well this weekend showing great teamwork and determination from start to finish. Everyone gave their best effort and it paid off in the final. I am very proud of my boys ” said Coach Newman.
Coast 14 Red (Click for Image) coached by Jack Poznanski…Champions U12 1st Division…The boys reeled off four consecutive victories against very good competition to claim the championship. Their wins came against the top teams from very good clubs. BISA 14 Gold 2-1, James Island 14 Pre MLS 4-2, HFC 14 Pre ECNL 3-0 and Surf 14 Pre ECNL 1-0.
Coast 16 Red (Click for Image) coached by Jordin Anderson…Finalist U10 2nd Division…After posting three lopsided victories in pool play scoring a whopping 25 goals the boys came up just short in the final falling 1-2 to BISA Gold.” We lit up the net scoring goals in pool play and added in some lockdown defense. Dropping a hard fought 1-2 result in the final does noy take away from the grit, growth and determination these boys showed over the weekend. The future is bright for this group !” said Coach Anderson.
Coast 14 Black (Click for Image) coached by Rob Bramble…Finalist U12 2nd Division…The 14 Black lost a heartbreaker 2-3 against Mount Pleasant Football Club in their final. The boys posted an undefeated record in pool play.
