Big Results in Raleigh & Greensboro

Most of our Coast Select teams were scattered across the state of North Carolina this weekend taking part in the Adidas Clash in Greensboro and the NCFC Boys Junior Showcase in Raleigh. This weekend marks the end of the fall season for our U8 – U14 boys and girls teams but not before many teams claimed championships and finalists awards. “The tournaments this weekend help us gage where our teams stand at the end of a long fall season. The NCFC Boys Junior Showcase allows us to enter our top U10 – U14 boys teams against some of the best competition in the Mid Atlantic area. The Greensboro Adidas Clash allows us to place our younger second and third level teams against similar competition to get very competitive matches. Getting competitive matches is what it is all about for us ” said Coast Director Heyward Gulledge.

NCFC Boys Junior Showcase – We entered our top five boys teams in each age division U10 – U14 and posted a combined overall record of 11 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties. Two teams won championships in their respective age divisions. Coach Dimitri Leftis and his Coast 12 Red (Click for Image) played their best weekend of soccer this year to claim top honors in the U12 division. The boys reeled off four consecutive wins including a 2-1 win in the final over host NCFC White. “ We had a tremendous weekend scoring seventeen goals while conceding two. We played very good soccer and deserved to win the event “ said Coach Leftis. The Coast 14 Red (Click for Image) claimed top honors at U10 and Coach Joel Banta said “ We finished the fall season in style today. After going down 0-2 in the final we fought back to win the championship 5-3 capping off a 22win, 1 loss, 1 tie record for the fall. I am looking forward to moving up to the 9v9 format with this talented group in the spring. ”

Greensboro Adidas Clash – We claimed five finalists awards in a very productive weekend for the club. Hats off to the Greensboro staff for a very well run event.

Coast 14g Red (Click for Image) finished as finalists in a group of five teams after posting a 3-1-0 record. “ I am very proud of my team. The girls worked extremely hard and the work that they have put in since day one of the fall season is paying big dividends. Looking forward to the future ” said Coach Stephanie Cumez.

Coach John Zimmer’s Coast 11g Red (Click for Image) also finished as finalists in the U13 division with a 3-1-0 record . “ We came up short in the final however we had a great tournament to end our fall season. I am proud of their effort and growth this fall “ said Coach Zimmer.

Coast 07 Black (Click for Image) coached by Fatjon Cake posted a 2-1-1 record in pool play but came up short against an organized Virginia United NPL side in the final. Coach Cake said “ My team was promoted into PMSL play this fall and has battled hard all season. It was nice to have good results in Greensboro to end our fall campaign. I am very proud of their progress as a team. ”

Coach Rob Bramble’s Coast 13 Black (Click for Image) team finished as finalist after dropping a hard fought 2-1 result to NCF Liverpool in the final. The 08 Black only conceded four goals in four matches however the championship proved elusive. The 13 Black will add this nice result to their first place placement in the fall CPL League.

Coach Mark Sanchez and his Coast 07 Red (Click for Image) side added yet another trophy to their collection by finishing as finalist in the u17 division. The boys came up just short 0-1 against a local NCF side in the final.
