Success in Savannah

Four Coast FA boys teams returned home from the Savannah Boys Rule Tournament this weekend with trophies for their efforts. Coast entered eight boys teams in the scenic Savannah event and was well represented at the medal ceremony with two championships and two finalists.

The Coast 08 Red coached by Justin Blomdahl ripped through their three qualifying matches with lopsided results to reach the finals. The championship match featured a hard fought 2-1 result over Savannah United 08 Blue to claim top honors in the first division of boys Under 10 play.

Coach Brian Smith’s Coast 04 Red avenged an early loss in pool play to Savannah United 04 Premier with a 4-0 whitewashing in the championship match. The boys not only won the Under 14/15 first division tournament championship but also picked up a victory in their ultra competitive SCSCL League play.

The roles were reversed on Coach Ben Strong’s Coast 07 Red over the weekend. After posting three consecutive victories in qualifying matches, the Savannah United 07 Premier boys avenged a 0-2 loss to claim the championship 3-1. The Coast 07 Red returned home as finalists.

Coach Justin Blomdahl visited the podium for a second time to receive finalist honors for the Coast 08 Black in the second division of under 10 boys. The 08 Black posted three wins but dropped a wild 6-8 result to the eventual champions to finish as finalist.
