Coast Duo Sign Collegiate Deals
Two members of the Coast 99 Red Premier team signed to play collegiate soccer on Wednesday in front of coaches, family and friends at Socastee High School. Ashton Newman and Tanner Goshert have been longtime teammates not only at Coast FA but also for the Socastee Braves soccer program
Tanner Goshert officially committed to play for the USC Upstate Spartans in Spartanburg , South Carolina where he plans to major in financial banking. The Spartans compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Tanner played for Coast FA for the past eight years and has had a tremendous amount of personal and team success. As an attacking midfielder on the Coast 99 Red, Goshert helped his team finish atop the table in the prestigious Region III Premier League in his final youth season. Tanner was selected to the South Carolina ODP team three consecutive years and made the Region III player pool in 2016.
Ashton Newman committed to play for Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina coached by Chris Williams. The Cobras compete in the South Atlantic Conference. Ashton has been a player at Coast since the club was formed in 2005. He was a valuable member of the Coast 99 Red team last season as a rock solid holding midfielder in the Region III Premier League. Named as Co-Captain for his Socastee High School team, Ashton plays sweeper in his final pursuit of a state championship. He was recently named to the All Tournament Team at the Michael Nash Invitational and serves as a youth referee in his spare time.

Both of these young men have been dedicated to the game for many years and are now being rewarded for their efforts. Everyone at the club is ecstatic for the boys and we look forward to following their careers” said Coach Joel Banta.
