ST. PATRICK’S DAY CUP WINNERS!!
Coast FA youth soccer teams celebrated the St. Patrick’s Day weekend competing in the St. Patrick’s Day Cup in Columbia SC. The luck of the Irish was with four Coast teams who found their way to the finalists’ podium.
Coach Joel Banta’s 07 Red made their second consecutive tournament final, and this time they would not be denied. The 07 Boys cruised to a winners medal on the back of 3 clean sheets from 4 games.
The Boys 08 Black team earned their winners’ medals after beating a strong Charlotte United team 3-1 in the final. Coach Ross Morgan’s young team went undefeated in their run to the U10 title.
Coast 09 Black welcomed Coach Brian Bouhl to the club with a trip to the podium, and a winners’ medal. The 09 Boys went undefeated on the weekend.
Coach Manny Ardeljan’s 10 Red Boys collected their third finalists’ medals of the spring season finishing second in a crowded U8 division. The 10 Boys rode the division’s best defense to a 2-1-1 record, and came up just short of a winners’ medal on points.
Congratulations to all the Coast FA Winners and Finalists at the St. Patrick’s Day Cup!
Coast FA Teams Shine in Charleston
Coast FA Boys teams dominated the younger age groups at the Charleston Battery Challenge Cup. Coach Tim Thomas’ 09 Black team narrowly beat out Coach Manny Ardeljan’s ’10 Red , 1-0 to take the u8/u9 title.
Coach Tim’s 09 Red also played their way into the finals in the u9/u10 division. Falling just short to a strong Cainhoy Crew team.
Coach Mario Benjamin’s 05 Red Boys put in a strong performance as well at the Charleston Challenge Cup. The 05 boys looked to avenge an earlier loss to SCUFC, but were unfortunate not to come away victorious. They come home as deserving finalists.
Coast Girls Rule at the 2018 Can Am Cup
Coast FA had another successful weekend of tournament soccer; this time at the 2018 Can Am Cup here in Myrtle Beach. Five Coast teams advanced to the finals this Sunday, but it was the ladies that stole the show.
Coach Ragan Cote’s 07 Red girls fought their way into the final beating NCFC, and local rival Beach United. Their only hiccup in group play came at the hands of a strong Cainhoy Athletic team. The two wins were enough to secure 2nd place in the group, and another crack at Cainhoy in the final. The 07 Girls were not to be denied the second time around winning 2-1, and bringing home the Can Am Cup.
“I AM VERY PROUD OF THE GIRLS’ PERFORMANCE THIS WEEKEND. BY WORKING AS A TEAM THEY WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS. WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO USE THIS MOMENTUM TOWARDS OUR SPRING SEASON.” – COACH RAGAN
THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT ON THE BOY’S SIDE TOO!
Coach Tim Thomas’ 09 Red and Coach Manny Ardeljan’s 10 Red both made their second consecutive tournament finals; with both unfortunate not to come home victorious. The 09s and 10s represent two of the youngest teams at Coast FA, and with each tournament they continue to impress.
Not to be outdone; both 07 Boys teams made their respective finals. Joel Banta’s 07 Red fell just short in the final against PISA Hurricanes while Coach Ben Strong’s 07 Black lost to a tough WUFA team. With 20 goals between them on the weekend its clear the 07 age group will be one to watch for years to come.
